Autocalibrate Scorpion 3D SmartCam

The Scorpion 3D SmartCam from Sony puts the technology in a compact housing.

Combining Scorpion Version X, the Sony SmartCam with a GigE camera implements the smallest package for a 3D stereo vision solution based on standard components.

The package locating and identifying gears while moving will be at display a Sony’s booth Halle 1 C32 at Vision-2012 in Stuttgart.

Version X supports Automatic Calibration for Scorpion 3D SmartCam

Scorpion Vision Version X provides Scorpion Tool Components and an upgraded 3D Calibration tool component that makes it easy to make auto calibration support in 3D machine vision applications. Using a 3D reference object see below will establish a common 3D reference system for multiple cameras automatically – this will ensure the integrity of your 3D machine vision system. The new STC-0062-RefObjCalibration3D defines the dimension of any custom reference object.

The software defines any 3D calibration objects and locates the 3D reference points with sub-pixel accuracy providing the best 3D calibration automatically

Automatically verify the status of your calibration.

The new STC-0063 ValidateExtReferences3D will validate the calibration of all the connected cameras and ensure that calibration is consistent.

One Push Calibration Dialog

The one push button is available if you want the operator to decide when to do the calibration. The status fields exposes the RMS value in mm for all 3D cameras – the Z distance from the camera to the calibration object and the actual number of points used on the reference object. If all values are ok the 3D Calibration OK is green and the system is fine 🙂
